Macron: Russia is pursuing an escalatory path and not seeking peace
Paris, 6 December (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned the recent attacks on Ukraine and stated that pressure on Russia must be increased.
President Macron issued a statement regarding Russia’s large-scale overnight attacks on Ukraine, saying he “strongly condemns” the strikes that targeted energy and railway infrastructure.
Macron stated that Russia “is moving along an escalatory path and is not seeking peace,” urging the international community to maintain pressure on Moscow.
He announced that he would meet on Monday in London with the President of Ukraine, the UK Prime Minister, and the German Chancellor to assess the current status of negotiations conducted under U.S. mediation.
Macron emphasized that Ukraine can rely on France’s “unwavering support,” adding that work within the coalition of volunteers will continue and that efforts with the United States will proceed to ensure the necessary security guarantees.
He also noted that Europe’s security is directly linked to developments in Ukraine.
