Lula da Silva: I became the first Brazilian president to attend the ASEAN Summit
Seoul, 23 February (Hibya) - Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that his state visit to South Korea marks an important milestone in strengthening strategic ties with Asia.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made remarks regarding the foreign policy strategies of his third presidential term.
Summarizing the engagement established with Asian economies over the past three years, Lula said, “This state visit completes a fundamental cycle in Brazil’s foreign policy during my third term. Over the past three years, we have strengthened our ties with Asia, the dynamic center of the global economy.”
Lula da Silva added, “I have visited China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam. Last October, I became the first Brazilian president to attend the ASEAN Summit.”
Emphasizing South Korea’s leadership in technology and culture, Lula concluded, “This journey would not be complete without Korea, a global leader in technology, innovation and culture. Since 2010, no other Brazilian head of state has visited this country. This gap does not align with the social and economic ties that exist between our peoples.”
