Kallas: The obstacle to peace is not the Ukrainian army, but the Russian army
Brussels, February 23 (Hibya) – European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that in the fourth year of the Russia-Ukraine war, pressure to achieve peace should focus on Russia rather than Ukraine.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas made a statement regarding the strategic situation and ongoing diplomatic processes as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its fourth year.
Emphasizing that Moscow has failed to achieve any of its strategic objectives, Kallas said, “In the fourth year of the war, Moscow has not achieved any of its strategic goals. Pressure in the peace talks appears to be concentrated on Ukraine.”
Stating that sustainable peace will only be possible if Russia steps back, Kallas added, “However, if we want this war to end and peace to be lasting, we need to see concessions from Russia.”
High Representative Kallas concluded, “The obstacle to peace is not the Ukrainian army, but the Russian army.”
