UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini made statements regarding the state of international law in current conflict zones.

Speaking at his recent lecture at the Geneva Graduate Institute, Lazzarini stated that violations of the laws of war are not historically new.

Referring to these violations, Lazzarini said: “I have said that serious violations of international law in conflicts are not new. What is new, however, is that these violations are no longer hidden and are even committed with pride.”

Stressing that the world must stop this course, the Commissioner-General said: “The world must not remain on this dangerous path. We must strongly defend our shared humanity and our shared values.”
