Lavrov: Attempts to Strategically Weaken Russia Are Doomed to Fail
Moscow, February 15 (Hibya) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov highlighted platforms such as BRICS and the SCO during Diplomats' Day and outlined foreign policy goals.
Lavrov stated that Russian diplomacy continues to defend the country's national interests.
A message from President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russian diplomacy plays a key role in safeguarding national security amid a complex global environment.
Lavrov noted efforts through BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to build a more balanced and multipolar international system.
On Ukraine, he said protecting the rights and security of people living in "historical Russian lands" is fundamental and that Russia remains open to negotiations provided its legitimate security interests are respected.
He added that attempts by the United States and its allies to strategically weaken Russia are doomed to fail.
