EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib emphasized Bonino’s critical role in the EU’s humanitarian aid policies and her people-centered approach in crisis regions.

Referring to Bonino’s contribution to the institution, Lahbib said: “Some people lead institutions; Emma Bonino gave ours a heart.”

Referring to the courageous steps Bonino took during her term, Lahbib said: “She helped the EU act faster and more boldly where it was needed most. She never forgot the people behind the crises.”
