Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten emphasized the pressure that the drought is placing on the country's infrastructure and water resources.

Highlighting the scale of the drought crisis and the effects of climate conditions, Jetten said, "The Netherlands is experiencing an exceptional situation due to prolonged drought. At the same time, we know that extreme weather conditions such as drought are becoming increasingly common. Therefore, the rain expected next week is, quite literally, a drop in the ocean."

Referring to the work carried out in the field by water authorities and relevant institutions, Jetten said, "That is why water authorities, provinces and Rijkswaterstaat have been working extremely intensively since July to distribute scarce water, and this is necessary. For example, today in Zoeterwoude, I saw how dikes are weakening due to extreme heat."

Thanking the teams working in the field, Jetten concluded his statement by saying, "I would like to express my endless gratitude to the people who continue to ensure our safety and carry out this important work."
