Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

The exhibition reveals the historical trajectory of Bulgarian book publishing and educational activities from the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century.

The exhibition is housed in the home where Hristo Gruev Danov—known as the “father of the Bulgarian book”—once lived. Visitors can take a close look at rare printed books from the Bulgarian National Revival and even experience book printing on an original press used by Danov.

Astronomy teaching models centered on Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars stand out as one of the museum’s most eye-catching sections.

According to museum officials, the exhibition’s setups symbolically demonstrate “how light emitted from the Sun reaches the Earth” with the help of a candle and a mirror. Using this simple yet effective model, the “Earth’s 24-hour rotation around its axis” and the formation of day and night are explained visually to visitors.

Through the same setups, “the positions of the planets relative to each other,” “the Moon’s movements,” and “the formation of seasons and planetary alignments” are conveyed in a concrete way. It is noted that these models were used for many years as hands-on teaching tools, especially in physics and biology classes.

These scientific models, widely used in schools in the 1920s and 1930s, show that “education at the time was based not on rote learning, but on observation and reason.” The “chest model with removable lungs” and the “eye model displayed together with the optic nerve” indicate that even human anatomy was taught in a practical manner in those years.

The museum is located in the house where Hristo Gruev Danov (1828–1911), regarded as the founder of Bulgarian book publishing, once lived. While Danov’s work in publishing and education forms the backbone of the museum, the scientific and astronomy models on display reflect a 19th-century educational approach that was, compared with today, strikingly rational and science-centered.
