Guterres: I condemn the massive attacks carried out by Israel
New York, April 9 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel's attacks across Lebanon.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made a statement regarding the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and the ceasefire process.
Drawing attention to the effects of the attacks, Guterres said, "I strongly condemn the massive attacks carried out by Israel across Lebanon on April 8, in which hundreds of civilians, including children, were killed and injured."
Referring to the risks in the ceasefire process, Guterres stated, "Following the declaration of a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, the ongoing military activities in Lebanon pose a serious risk to the ceasefire and to efforts toward lasting and comprehensive peace in the region. Hostilities must stop immediately."
Emphasizing international law and civilian safety, Guterres said, "International law must be respected. Civilians and civilian objects must be protected at all times. Attacks against them are unacceptable. There is no military solution to the conflict."
