Fletcher: Technology must be part of the solution
New York, 23 January (Hibya) – UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher emphasized that algorithms should not be racist or sexist and that technology must play a role in solving humanitarian problems.
Speaking during meetings with technology companies, influencers and creators, Fletcher said technology should be part of the solution rather than the problem.
“If you love your children, do not allow algorithms to be racist or sexist. If you want to be great ancestors, do it with a humanitarian approach,” he said.
Fletcher also noted that cooperation continues with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty on intensive humanitarian efforts in Sudan, Gaza and other regions.
