First meeting under Makkah Agreement to be held in Istanbul
Islamabad, August 30 (Hibya) - The first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, established under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, will be held in Istanbul on August 31, 2026. Foreign and defense ministers, along with military officials from Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, will attend the meeting.

According to a statement by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan will be represented at the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Staff and Commander of the Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The foreign and defense ministers of Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, as well as their chiefs of general staff, will also attend the meeting.
Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that participation in the meeting reflects the historic bonds of friendship between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, as well as their commitment to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
