Dar hosts Ambassador Mahmood, D-8 Secretary General nominee
Islamabad, December 31 (Hibya) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishak Dar received Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, the nominee for Secretary General of the D-8 Organization.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishak Dar received Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, the candidate for Secretary General of the D-8.
During the meeting, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood briefed Deputy Prime Minister Dar on his future plans and said that he would be joining the D-8 Secretariat shortly.
Mahmood stated, “I reaffirm my commitment to advancing the D-8 mission as envisioned by its leadership.”
Deputy Prime Minister Ishak Dar wished Mahmood success in his new assignment and expressed appreciation for his contributions as a former foreign minister and Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI).
Highlighting the importance of the D-8, Dar said, “D-8 is a highly promising organization. With Ambassador Sohail Mahmood serving as Secretary General, the organization can be revitalized to promote bilateral and multilateral relations among member states.”
