CENTCOM: Southern route of the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping
Washington, August 5 (Hibya) – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the southern transit route of the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial vessels navigating international waters. CENTCOM said it has supported the safe passage of more than 1,000 commercial ships over the past three months.
CENTCOM issued a statement regarding maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a post on CENTCOM's social media account, the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz remains open and accessible to all commercial vessels wishing to use the international waterway.
The statement added that US forces have assisted more than 1,000 commercial vessels in safely transiting the strait over the past three months.
CENTCOM stated that vessel transits have continued despite what it described as "unjustified aggression" originating from Iran.
