Carney: We are moving toward an agreement that strengthens Canada's advantage
Ottawa, August 19 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney congratulated Minister LeBlanc and Ambassador Greer on the progress made in trade talks between Canada and the United States.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the two countries had reached an important stage in their trade negotiations, noting that steps had been taken to protect strategic sectors and reduce uncertainty in trade relations.
Commenting on the course of the talks, Carney said: “I congratulate Minister LeBlanc and Ambassador Greer on the significant progress made in Canada-United States trade talks.”
Outlining Canada's position and objectives in the negotiations, Prime Minister Carney said: “Canada entered these talks with the best overall trading terms. We are now moving toward an agreement that strengthens this Canadian advantage by securing the best terms in each of Canada's most important strategic sectors and providing greater certainty for our future trading relationship.”
