Carney announces the appointment of Louise Arbour as Canada’s 31st Governor General
Ottawa, May 5 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that the appointment of Louise Arbour as Canada’s 31st Governor General has been approved.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke about the process of selecting the country’s new Governor General.
Sharing the appointment decision, Carney said, “I am very pleased to announce that, on my recommendation, Her Majesty has approved the appointment of Ms. Louise Arbour as Canada’s 31st Governor General.”
Referring to Arbour’s past work, Prime Minister Carney said, “For more than fifty years, she has given a voice to those whose dignity has been violated, held institutions accountable, and changed lives through her dedication.”
