Bulgaria sends message on Ukraine and the Middle East
Sofia, September 2 (Hibya) - Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova said the European Union should strengthen its geopolitical role and actively participate in diplomatic efforts to end the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Bulgarian Foreign Minister Petrova offered assessments of the European Union’s foreign policy agenda during the informal Gymnich meeting held in Ireland.
Petrova said the EU should become a more effective geopolitical actor capable of defending common European interests and contributing to the resolution of crises in neighboring regions.
At the meeting, where the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East were discussed, Petrova said Europe should play an active role in diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the wars and achieving lasting peace.
The discussions also addressed increasing the effectiveness of the Union’s foreign policy activities by strengthening coordination between the European External Action Service (EEAS), member states and EU institutions.
