Budrys: Only strong partnerships can break geostrategic dependencies
Vilnius, February 4 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys said that only strong partnerships can break geostrategic dependencies and provide the strongest shield against external pressure.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys stated that secure, diversified and transparent supply chains are essential for economic resilience, technological sovereignty, defense and the transition to clean energy.
Noting that Lithuania’s experience of facing economic pressure from China in 2021–2022 underlined a simple fact, Budrys said: “Only strong partnerships – especially with the United States, the G7 and the European Union – can break geostrategic dependencies and provide the strongest shield against external pressure.”
Budrys announced that he participated in the Ministerial Meeting on critical minerals held in Washington, D.C., hosted by the U.S. Department of State.
Stating that Lithuania welcomes U.S. leadership, Budrys said:
“Lithuania is ready to offer its expertise in high-tech manufacturing, advanced materials and the innovative recycling of critical raw materials. We fully support the ongoing EU–U.S. critical minerals negotiations and remain committed to coordinated strategies, joint investments and high standards that strengthen Europe as a reliable, innovative and indispensable partner.”
