El Alamein, August 20 (Hibya) - The 7th session of the Joint Higher Committee between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt was held in Egypt's El Alamein to develop relations between the two countries and assess regional developments.

The meeting was chaired on the Qatari side by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and on the Egyptian side by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
The meeting comprehensively addressed cooperation relations between Qatar and Egypt and assessed steps that could be taken to support and further strengthen the existing relations between the two countries. Cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, diplomacy, health, agriculture and food security featured prominently in the discussions.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the qualitative development in Qatar-Egypt relations under the guidance of the leaders of the two countries.
It was stated that the increasing pace of high-level reciprocal visits reflects the shared political will to take relations between the two countries to broader horizons. A common understanding was also expressed on further strengthening coordination between Doha and Cairo in various fields.
The committee meeting also comprehensively assessed the latest developments in the region. Diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions, limiting conflicts and strengthening regional security and stability were discussed.
The talks also addressed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Qatar and Egypt reiterated their rejection of any scenario aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians from their lands or changing the demographic or geographical structure of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The parties also highlighted the importance of ongoing diplomatic initiatives in the region.
The meeting emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as well as ensuring the safe, secure and free continuation of maritime transportation.
Qatar and Egypt highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of maritime navigation for the uninterrupted continuation of international trade.
The parties also stated that continued coordination between Doha and Cairo is important for reaching a final and sustainable agreement that would end the war and military escalation. In this context, it was noted that the security and stability concerns of brotherly Gulf countries should also be taken into consideration.
The latest situation regarding the crisis in Sudan was also discussed at the Joint Higher Committee meeting.
Qatar and Egypt pointed to the importance of the international community fulfilling its responsibilities toward Sudan's neighboring countries. The two countries emphasized the need to preserve Sudan's unity and territorial integrity and stated their rejection of threats to the country's unity and the establishment of parallel administrations or entities.
The parties highlighted the importance of supporting Sudanese state institutions as a fundamental pillar in restoring security and stability in the country.
As part of the session, agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at developing cooperation between Qatar and Egypt in various fields were also signed.
In this context, a draft agreement providing for mutual administrative assistance in the effective implementation of customs law and in preventing, investigating and combating customs violations was signed.
A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of audit work was also signed between the State Audit Bureau of Qatar and the Central Auditing Organization of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In addition, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed between the Qatar Fund for Development and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, while a grant agreement was signed between the Qatar Fund for Development and Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population for the establishment of the HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Hospital in Egypt's Sohag Governorate.
At the end of the meeting, the minutes of the 7th session of the Qatar-Egypt Joint Higher Committee were also signed.
The session demonstrated the determination of the two countries to expand cooperation in economic, diplomatic and social fields and to continue coordination on regional issues.
