President of Ukraine Volodymymyr Zelensky stated that they discussed defense support during their meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

Thanking Romania for its military assistance and its contributions to the PURL initiative, Zelensky noted that strengthening air defense is a priority issue for Ukraine.

Zelensky stated that developing the energy network between the countries is important, saying: "This will help during the periods of energy shortages Ukraine experiences due to Russia’s ongoing attacks on our energy infrastructure, and it will also support Romania when we have an energy surplus and are able to export electricity." Zelensky added that cooperation in the energy sector was therefore an important topic of the discussions.

Zelensky noted the following:

"Special attention was given to expanding the border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania. It was also discussed to work on an intergovernmental agreement on joint control at the Ukraine-Romania border crossings. I thank Ilie Bolojan for the meeting and for his support to Ukraine."
