Zelensky: A Pantheon of Heroes will be created to strengthen Ukraine’s national memory
Kyiv, April 22 (Hibya) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that work has begun on creating a “Pantheon of Notable Ukrainians” as part of the country’s memorial policy.
President Zelensky stated that a working meeting was held on the country’s memorial policy and honoring national heroes.
Zelensky noted that efforts to establish a “Pantheon of Notable Ukrainians” have been launched, emphasizing that the project requires coordination between state institutions, society, and international partners.
In his statement, Zelensky said: “This is primarily about returning historical figures to Ukraine — those who are fundamental to the formation of Ukrainian national consciousness and our state-building. Additionally, the Heroes Policy in Ukraine concerns the proper commemoration of different stages of our history and the restoration of the entire historical memory of Ukraine.”
Zelensky stated that the project aims to create a shared space of values for future generations.
It was also reported that Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov, and Deputy Head Iryna Vereshchuk, along with their teams, are involved in the process.
Zelensky thanked all contributors to the work and stated that the next stages of the process have been determined.
