WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus sends message of health cooperation with Belgium
Geneva, 26 November (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus met with Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prévot during the African Union–European Union Summit (AUEU25) held in Angola.

Ghebreyesus stated that this process aims to strengthen the organization’s mission to support member states and to work more effectively toward the goal of Health for All. He also emphasized the importance of WHO’s sustainable financing strategy—supported by Belgium and other governments—in safeguarding the organization’s independence, values, and science-based work.
Deputy Prime Minister Prévot highlighted WHO’s critical role in the global health architecture and affirmed Belgium’s continued strategic support for the organization.
Ghebreyesus also thanked Belgium for supporting WHO’s Medical Evacuation Program, which enables the evacuation of patients in need of urgent medical care in Gaza, calling for the continuation of this vital humanitarian effort.
