Von der Leyen welcomes Kazakh President Tokayev in Brussels
Brussels, June 23 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Brussels to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the European Union and Central Asia.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she was pleased to welcome Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Brussels, noting that Kazakhstan and Central Asia as a whole serve as a natural gateway on a global scale.
Von der Leyen stated that the meeting would explore how the two regions could be brought even closer together under the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, emphasizing the importance of connectivity for economic opportunities.
She stressed that their goal is to transform this gateway into a corridor that generates business, opportunities, and prosperity.
