Von der Leyen: Europe remains on high wildfire alert
Brussels, August 15 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the risk of wildfires remains high across Europe, noting that pressure is increasing in some countries.

Von der Leyen said, “Europe continues to remain on high fire alert,” noting that wildfire pressure is increasing in Belgium, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Von der Leyen said the Copernicus satellite system is supporting mapping efforts in Spain, Albania, Greece, France, Germany and Serbia, adding that Europe is closely monitoring fires across the continent through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre.
Von der Leyen stated that the Civil Protection Mechanism is activated when a country requests solidarity from Europe.
