Ushakov: The parties are ready to continue working together toward a peaceful solution
Moscow, December 3 (Hibya) – Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration, Yuri Ushakov, speaking to reporters after Vladimir Putin’s meeting with Donald Trump’s Special Envoy Steven Witkoff, said: “The parties declared that they are ready to continue working together to achieve a long-term peaceful solution in Ukraine.”
Ushakov said: “Naturally, together with our American colleagues, we discussed the content of the projects and documents previously submitted by the Americans to Moscow and examined them. We did not discuss specific wording or particular American proposals, but rather the essence of what these documents contain. On some issues we were able to reach understanding, and the President confirmed this to his counterparts; others prompted criticism, and the President did not hide our critical, even negative, attitude toward certain proposals. But the main thing is that we held a very productive meeting. And most importantly, I repeat once again, the parties declared that they are ready to continue working together toward achieving a long-term peaceful solution in Ukraine.”
Asked whether a new meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is being planned, Ushakov responded: “We agreed to continue contacts with the Americans — particularly with the two individuals who came to the Kremlin today — at the level of representatives, aides and other officials. A possible meeting at the presidential level will depend on how much progress we can make through the persistent and meticulous work of aides, the Foreign Ministry and other institutions.”
Ushakov stated that no agreement has yet been reached: “However, some American proposals appear more or less acceptable. But they need to be discussed. Some of the formulations presented to us are not acceptable. Therefore, the work will continue. This is indeed one of the most important issues.”
Responding to a question regarding Trump’s son-in-law, Kushner, Ushakov said: “Yes, he is, so to speak, quite a new face, but as you know, he and Witkoff worked very effectively in the Middle East, and the achievements in Gaza are part of that.”
