Metsola: Agreement reached on regulation banning Russian gas imports
Brussels, December 3 (Hibya) – European Parliament President Roberta Metsola announced that an agreement has been reached on the regulation banning the import of Russian gas into the European Union.
Metsola emphasized that an agreement has been reached on the regulation banning Russian gas imports into the EU, describing it as a historic turning point for Europe.
She stated that the proposal initiated by the European Parliament had been successfully concluded together with the Council of the European Union, adding:
“This decision targets one of the main sources of Russia’s war financing, while simultaneously strengthening Europe’s long-term energy security. In this way, we are safeguarding Europe’s energy future. This decision is also a clear expression of genuine and concrete support for Ukraine.”
