The Russell 2000 (RUSS 2K) index rose 1.13 percent to 2,953.166 points. The Dow Jones (DJIA) gained 0.56 percent to reach 53,061.95 points.
The S&P 500 index rose 0.46 percent to 7,666.60 points, while the NASDAQ index climbed 0.45 percent to 26,217.828 points.
The NASDAQ 100 index gained 0.23 percent and closed the day at 29,143.33 points.
