Tsahkna: NATO's eastern flank defense is becoming stronger
Tallinn, June 30 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced that during a ceremony in Valga-Valka, the 1st German-Netherlands Corps officially took over the tactical command of the Estonian and Latvian land forces from the Multinational Corps Northeast Headquarters.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna commented on NATO's new command structure on its eastern flank, regional defense strategies, and the growing role of European allies.
Providing details of the transfer of command, Tsahkna said: "Today in Valga-Valka, the 1st German-Netherlands Corps officially assumed tactical command of the Estonian and Latvian land forces from the Multinational Corps Northeast Headquarters."
Highlighting the contribution of this step to the Alliance's defense capabilities, Tsahkna concluded: "The defense of NATO's eastern flank is becoming faster, stronger and more responsive with European allies taking on a greater role within a stronger NATO."
