Trump: I don't want to take steps that would drive Russia away from the negotiating table
Washington, October 18 (Hibya) - US President Donald Trump said progress had been made in talks aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Trump expressed his desire to avoid steps that could drive Russia away from the negotiating table, while accusing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of targeting diesel refineries in Russia and being unwilling to end the war.
US President Donald Trump commented on peace talks aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. In a message posted on social media, Trump said significant progress had been made in the talks and that the process also included ongoing hostage negotiations.
Trump stated that he did not want to take steps that could drive Russia away from the negotiating table, noting that he could sign the document in question at a later date. Trump also claimed that the support Russia could provide to Iran was limited and expressed his desire for that situation to continue.
Trump criticized Ukrainian President Zelensky for targeting diesel refineries in Russia. Arguing that these attacks had caused serious damage to global diesel markets, including the United States, Trump claimed that farmers, livestock producers and businesses across various sectors had been negatively affected.
Trump further claimed that Russia was nevertheless supplying millions of barrels of diesel to global markets at low prices and alleged that Zelensky did not want to end the war. Referring to Ukraine's territorial and human losses, Trump said, "I want this war to end."
