Sybiha: NATO's military leadership arrives in Kyiv
Kyiv, October 8 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that NATO's Military Committee had visited Kyiv for the first time since Ukraine gained independence, describing the visit as "a powerful symbol of support and solidarity."
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a social media post that NATO's military leadership and representatives of all 32 allied countries were in Kyiv this week.
Sybiha noted that the NATO-Ukraine Council had convened in Ukraine at the Military Committee level for the first time. He said the meeting was co-chaired by NATO Military Committee Chair Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and Ukraine's Chief of the General Staff Mykhailo Drapatyi.
Sybiha argued that the visit was a clear response to Russia's attempts to encourage foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv. Emphasizing the strengthening of Ukraine-NATO relations, he said the allies had been briefed on the battlefield situation, Ukraine's war strategy and its critical needs.
Sybiha stated that briefings on air defense and deep-strike capabilities were provided during the meetings. He added that allies had reported progress on specific air defense packages, including 20-millimeter ammunition for F-16 aircraft.
Sybiha also highlighted growing interest in incorporating Ukraine's combat experience into NATO doctrines, standards and defense planning, saying that the experience gained by his country strengthens the entire alliance and that Ukraine's future lies in NATO.
