Russia issued a commemorative message for the victims of genocide of the Soviet people
Moscow, April 19 (Hibya) – In a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reported that the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 were commemorated.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the occasion of the day of remembrance for the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people for the period 1941–1945.
The statement noted that the said day of remembrance was established by a decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin dated December 29, 2025, and that the principles of the commemoration process were determined by federal law.
The statement emphasized that the actions carried out by the Nazis and their collaborators on Soviet territory are characterized as “genocide” and that efforts to secure international recognition of these crimes will continue.
It was also stressed that the policies of Nazi Germany toward the Soviet Union led to the deaths of millions of civilians, highlighting the importance of preserving the memory of that period.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that diplomatic initiatives aimed at gaining international recognition of these crimes will continue.
