Russia challenges MH17 ruling, says ICAO acted inconsistently
Moscow, July 1 (Hibya) - Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced that Russia has challenged the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council's decision regarding the downing of Flight MH17 and has referred the case to the International Court of Justice.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that its objections to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council's decision concerning Flight MH17 had been submitted to the International Court of Justice.
The statement claimed that the ICAO decision contained "inconsistencies" and alleged that Ukraine's role in the incident had been overlooked. The Russian side maintained that Flight MH17 had been shot down by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and stated that it rejects the official findings.
According to information based on statements by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, the case should be re-examined through the international legal process.
