Russell: Children's health and education services must be protected during crises
New York, September 24 (Hibya) - UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said that children's health, education and protection services must not be disrupted during times of crisis.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said she held important discussions with the government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other development partners.
Russell noted that children are among the first groups affected during crises and stressed that health, education and child protection services must not be interrupted.
Russell said the effects of disruptions to these services can last throughout children's lives, adding that development should be part of the process from the very first stage of crisis response.
