Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Settlement activities in Bethlehem presented on the ground
Ramallah, August 10 (Hibya) - The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a field visit was organized for representatives of diplomatic missions in Bethlehem, during which Israel's settlement activities, land confiscations and practices concerning historical sites were addressed.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Bethlehem Governorate, organized a field visit in Bethlehem for representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Palestine.
According to a statement by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, the visit aimed to show diplomatic representatives on the ground the current situation in Bethlehem and Israeli practices affecting Palestinians, land, and historical and archaeological sites.
The visit was attended by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Hani Al-Hayek, Bethlehem Governor Mohammed Taha and Assistant Minister for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Omar Awadallah, as well as representatives of local authorities, civil society organizations and numerous diplomatic missions.
The diplomatic delegation visited the Convention Palace, Solomon's Pools, the Ush Ghrab area and Hindaza, examining the situation in these areas on the ground. The statement alleged that Israel was carrying out settlement activities, confiscating land, imposing control measures over the areas and attempting to alter the status of historical and archaeological sites.
