Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ferisin Aghabekyan Shahin held a phone call with UK Minister of State for the Middle East Stephen Doughty.

According to a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks addressed bilateral relations between Palestine and the United Kingdom as well as the latest developments in the region.

At the end of the conversation, Minister Shahin thanked Doughty for initiating the phone call and highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Palestine and the United Kingdom and keeping communication channels open.

Shahin expressed appreciation for the United Kingdom's supportive stance on the Palestinian issue in international forums. Particular attention was drawn to Britain's position at the latest session of the United Nations Security Council.

The Palestinian side stated that the UK's approach focuses on:

• improving the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip,

• ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid and basic necessities into Gaza,

• supporting the reconstruction of Gaza,

• strengthening security and governance.

Shahin also expressed concern over the escalation of developments in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The talks also addressed the rise in settler terrorism, attacks on holy sites and the various challenges facing the Palestinian people.

The parties discussed reducing tensions in the region and addressing the humanitarian and political problems facing the Palestinian people.

UK Minister of State for the Middle East Stephen Doughty, for his part, emphasized the importance of keeping communication channels open between the two countries and developing bilateral relations.

Doughty stated that the United Kingdom would continue its support for the State of Palestine at all levels. The British minister also reiterated his country's support for the two-state solution, particularly in the context of the challenges facing the Palestinian government and people.
