Omar Yaghi, who attended the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, gave an exclusive interview to China Media Group (CMG).

Yaghi said, "China is making rapid progress in many fields, and artificial intelligence is also advancing quickly. I believe we need to be aware of how AI will evolve and of the positive and negative impacts it may have on society, the scientific community, and the world as a whole. At the same time, we must recognize that AI can also be used for harmful purposes."

Pointing out that AI is developing at a remarkable pace, Yaghi stressed that it should be embraced across different disciplines. He said, "The more we embrace it and engage with it, the better the models will become, and the greater the benefits we will bring to our own disciplines and to humanity. I have learned a great deal about this subject at this conference, and it has further strengthened my view."
