Netanyahu: We have reached a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon
Jerusalem, June 27 (Hibya) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that a framework agreement aimed at ending hostilities with Lebanon has been reached following talks mediated by the United States.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced during a press conference that a framework understanding had been reached following direct talks between Israel and Lebanon mediated by the United States.
Netanyahu said the agreement could pave the way for ending hostilities between the two countries and, in the future, serve as the basis for a peace agreement.
According to Netanyahu, under the agreement, the United States and Lebanon recognize Israel's right to maintain a presence in a designated security zone inside Lebanon for security reasons. He added that this arrangement would remain in place until Hezbollah and other groups are disarmed.
Netanyahu also argued that the agreement represents a strategic outcome against Iran and Hezbollah, claiming that it would limit Iran's influence in Lebanon.
Referring to Israel's recent military operations, Netanyahu claimed that Hezbollah's infrastructure had suffered heavy losses and that many senior figures had been neutralized.
Concluding his remarks, Netanyahu said the objective is to achieve security, stability, and economic recovery along the northern border, emphasizing "peace and security" for the region's future.
