Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the Iranian leadership during his speech at the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers' course graduation ceremony at Bahad 1. Netanyahu alleged that Iran was once again attempting to develop nuclear weapons, arguing that overthrowing the regime in Iran was the only way to permanently eliminate this threat.

Stating that Iran's new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, had decided to follow in his father's footsteps, Netanyahu said, "The regime in Iran still has not learned its lesson. Today's tyrant, Mojtaba Khamenei, has decided to follow in his father's footsteps. He has pulled the safety pin, and Iran is once again trying to develop bombs of death."

Calling for the elimination of what he described as a threat originating from Iran, Netanyahu stated, "There is only one way to eliminate this threat once and for all: to overthrow the regime in Iran. That is the instruction I have given to the IDF, Mossad, and the security agencies."
