The STOXX 600 index stood at 638.65 points, Germany's DAX index at 25,408.64 points and France's CAC 40 index at 8,077.80 points.
In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 index rose 0.14 percent to 10,695.25 points. In Italy, the FTSE MIB index increased 0.16 percent to 51,866.93 points.
