Kallas: Ukraine needs more Patriot interceptors before winter
Brussels, September 28 (Hibya) - European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said Russia continues its attacks on civilians in Ukraine and called for more Patriot interceptors to be provided to Ukraine before winter.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas called on member states that possess Patriot systems to provide Ukraine with interceptors from their stockpiles.
Kallas said member states had reached an agreement on how to distribute 6.6 billion euros in funding under the European Peace Facility, adding that this meant at least 1 billion euros in new financing for joint procurement.
Kallas noted that these resources would strengthen defense cooperation among member states and support for Ukraine. She made the remarks ahead of a meeting of EU defense ministers.
