New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said that rising petrol prices are putting pressure on family budgets, stating: "We know this is tough, and the last thing any family needs right now is more pressure on their budget."

Luxon emphasized that these pressures are global, saying: "Thanks to the steps New Zealand has taken to rebuild the economy, we are in a stronger position than two years ago to deal with the effects of the conflict in the Middle East."
