Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced that the tax exemption measure, known publicly as the “blouse tax,” had passed Parliament and that the government had achieved an important success on its priority projects.

Stating that the promise had been fulfilled, Lula da Silva said, “Promise kept! The removal of the ‘blouse tax’ has been approved by Congress.”

Providing details of the legislation, Lula da Silva said, “The Provisional Measure sent by our government to Parliament in May allows federal taxes to be removed from international online purchases of up to 50 dollars.”

Commenting on the legislative process in Parliament, Lula da Silva concluded his statement by saying, “This was one of the important victories of this week in the legislature. Three of the government’s five priority projects have been definitively approved.”
