Lazzarini noted that cold, rain, wind and floods have added another layer of misery for displaced people in the Gaza Strip.

He said that sandstorms lasting for days have covered the sky and showered dust over tent camps, adding: “People’s difficulty in accessing enough water to wash creates an additional problem and further worsens respiratory and skin diseases in a place where the health system has almost completely collapsed due to the war.”

Lazzarini emphasized that UNRWA’s health and water supply teams are working tirelessly to assist those in need, adding that international aid efforts must mean restoring the dignity of the people in Gaza, increasing shelter opportunities, and ensuring that no obstacles are placed on operations on the ground.
