At the same time, he emphasized: “If anyone decides to attack Russia, the response will be crushing.”

Lavrov recalled that “Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly stated this many times.”

President Putin had previously said that in the event of strikes deep into Russian territory with long-range Western weapons, a “surprising response” would follow.

In 2023, Putin stated: “From the moment missile launches are detected, regardless of where they are launched from — from any point in the oceans or any region — such a large number, hundreds of our missiles appear in the air as a counterstrike, leaving no enemy any chance of survival. And this happens simultaneously on several fronts.”
