European Commission Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib made a statement on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and disruptions in aid corridors.

Speaking about the needs in the region, Lahbib said: “We need a real ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian aid for Palestinians. Access is still being blocked. More food is entering Gaza, but children continue to suffer from malnutrition.”

Stressing that NGOs are ready to scale up their work, Lahbib concluded her statement by saying: “All border crossings must be opened; NGOs are ready to intensify their operations. All obstacles to their work must be removed.”
