Lahbib: We must strengthen the Civil Protection Mechanism
Brussels, November 4 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib met with Estonian official Igor Taro during the Civil Protection Mechanism Forum to discuss how the European Union (EU) Civil Protection Mechanism could be strengthened in the coming years.

Commenting on the meeting, Lahbib said, "We discussed how we can make the EU Civil Protection Mechanism stronger in the coming years." She noted the need for closer cooperation between civilian and military sectors.
Emphasizing that the EU budget should be proportionate to the threats it faces, Lahbib stated, "We need a European budget that matches the threats." Lahbib also said she looked forward to visiting Estonia in 2027.
