Lahbib: The EU must preserve its strength in global humanitarian aid
Brussels, January 29 (Hibya) – European Union (EU) Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib emphasized in her address to the European Parliament that the Union must strengthen its role in the field of humanitarian assistance.
European Commission Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Lahbib stated before the European Parliament the importance of the EU remaining a reliable, effective, and leading global humanitarian aid donor.
Lahbib underlined the need to safeguard humanitarian principles, ensure a strong annual humanitarian aid budget, and act in a coordinated and reliable manner in the face of major and unexpected crises. She also noted that working together with development and peace actors would create more sustainable and stronger impacts.
