Lahbib: Settler violence in the West Bank has reached record levels
Brussels, July 31 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib issued a statement on the rising settler violence and humanitarian situation in the occupied West Bank.
EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib drew attention to the challenges facing Palestinian communities in the West Bank, stressing that protecting civilians is an obligation under international law.
Sharing figures on the scale of settler violence and its humanitarian impact, Lahbib said: "Settler violence in the West Bank has reached record levels. In just the first four months of this year, around 700 Palestinians were displaced and lives were lost."
Referring to the situation of Palestinian communities and the importance of international law, Lahbib concluded: "Palestinian communities are being isolated and deprived of essential services. Protecting civilians is an obligation under international law."
