European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib made a statement regarding her engagements in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Lahbib said that together with officials from the World Health Organization, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, ministers, and international partners, they assessed the response efforts to the Ebola outbreak.

The statement emphasized that armed conflicts deepen public health crises and highlighted that a ceasefire, humanitarian corridors, and strong coordination are critical in combating the outbreak.
