Lahbib: Gaza has the world's highest rate of child amputations
Brussels, June 25 (Hibya) – European Union (EU) Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib made a statement on the humanitarian situation facing Palestinian children, incidents of sexual and gender-based violence, and the health crisis in the region.
European Union (EU) Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said the latest report by the United Nations (UN) Commission of Inquiry revealed alarming findings, stating that, as a result of Israel's actions, Gaza has become the region with the highest rate of child amputations in the world.
Referring to the findings of the UN report, Lahbib said: "The latest report of the United Nations Commission of Inquiry is deeply alarming: Israel has deliberately killed and injured hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children, including through sexual and gender-based violence."
Lahbib concluded her statement by saying: "Gaza now has the highest rate of child amputations in the world."
