Jeliazkov: A Coordination Center is being established for the transition to the euro
Sofia, December 30 (Hibya) — Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Jeliazkov announced that, in order to ensure more active communication with citizens and the business community during the transition to the single European currency, the euro mechanism has been strengthened with a “Coordination Center.”
According to a statement by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, speaking at the opening of the government meeting, Prime Minister Jeliazkov said that the goal is to switch to the euro from the beginning of 2026 and to achieve maximum coordination among institutions at the central, regional and local levels.
Prime Minister Jeliazkov said, “A Coordination Center is being established for the transition to the euro.”
The center, established by a cabinet decision and to be managed by Vladimir Ivanov, Chairman of the State Commodity Exchanges and Markets Commission, will include deputy ministers of the interior, transport and finance, as well as representatives of DANS (State National Security Agency), the Consumer Protection Commission, the Revenue Agency, the Customs Agency and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
